Congratulations on your pregnancy and your choice to seek childbirth instruction. The birth of your child is a pivotal life moment happening only once. While no one can predict the events that will occur on your birth day adventure, we can prepare so that you can meet each new turn with understanding, calm and peace of mind.
Many women have an unnecessary fear of childbirth fueled by our media and current birth environment. We somehow miss that our very existance is a testament to the ability of the body to birth naturally. In fact, the majority of the most populous and fastest growing cultures in the world birth naturally, many with better infant and maternal mortality rates than the US. We are in 50th place among developed nations. In the US, we have stopped the family to family, woman to woman transfer of the knowledge of childbirth. Only 100 years ago, I would likley have seen and been part of the births of the women in my families. While many of the changes medicine has made has improved the outcome of births for the 5-10% or so who need help, they have made birth scarier and more difficult for the other 90-95%.

Natural childbirth classes are a place for women and families to regain control over their births with knowledge and preparation. To reconnect with the miracle of birth. Childbirth is not meant to be scary. It is a natural process. It is also not meant to be terribly painful. Fear and tension cause pain in childbirth. Education and preparation erase fear and tension. In addition, the natural endorphins released in a natural labor are stronger than any kind of drug that can be administered and it keeps increasing as long as labor proceeds normally. It is a perfect design.
God designed a woman's body perfectly and overwhelmingly, she is capable of having a fully natural labor with comfort and ease. Through education on the birth process, preparation for the birth day and understanding of Mom's connection to God (the power that is and always will be, the oneness with every woman who ever birthed or will birth), we will prepare together for your family to enjoy your best birth. Mom will learn to connect to the power within herself and Dad (partner) will learn to support her so that nothing interrupts her journey.

While the majority of my students are seeking a fully natural birth, please know that all students are welcome. My class teaches about the natural process and why it works but also prepares couples for the current birth environment and the possibility of interventions should they become necessary (5-10% of the time). One does need to know what happens in the case of deviation from normalcy.
